This initiative is part of the company’s strategy to offer clients more sustainable solutions
Oxiteno, a leader in the production of surfactants and specialty chemicals in Latin America, has become the first Brazilian chemical company to partner with EcoVadis, the world’s most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings. The alliance aims to drive excellence for all the Oxiteno’s suppliers, ensuring that the company solutions reflect a commitment to prioritizing sustainability and creating stable, long-term business relationships with its partners.
The EcoVadis platform will allow Oxiteno to monitor, rate and proactively compare the performance of its suppliers in the main topics of sustainability, in addition to helping it to draw up improvement plans. The EcoVadis methodology focuses on 21 sustainability criteria and is based on globally recognized initiatives, including: the International Labor Organization (ILO), the UN’s Global Compact, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and ISO 26000.
“We are looking forward to growing this partnership with Oxiteno and helping them improve the sustainability performance of all their suppliers. Now more than ever, it’s key that companies commit to better supply chain practices that support purposeful business and create long term value” said Pierre Francois-Thaler, co-CEO of EcoVadis. “By leveraging EcoVadis ratings, Oxiteno is better positioned to help ensure strong and responsible supply chains worldwide”.
Oxiteno has been rated annually since 2012 by EcoVadis for clients that have adopted the methodology to rate the sustainability of their supply chains.
“We have set sustainability goals for 2030, based on eight pillars that balance economic prosperity, environmental protection and meeting the needs of society. To achieve them, it is essential that we can also count on our suppliers. Although they commit to meeting a number of requirements at the time of their hiring, we believe that leveraging the EcoVadis sustainable procurement solution will give us valuable information to further improve our processes and offer the best solutions to our clients, based on a reliable comparison basis,” says Juliana Silva, Global Sustainability Manager at Oxiteno.
The ratings will take place gradually, using an interface available in dozens of languages, starting at the begging of August. The criteria take into account the size and nature of the business and are divided among the pillars of the environment, human and labor rights, ethics and sustainable business.
