For Oxiteno, sustainability is a journey that has a beginning with no end. There are many challenges on this journey and today's strategic decisions can help build a more sustainable future.

The global population will be more than eight billion by 2030 and there is a pressing need for a strategy of sustainable growth and development - considering economic, social, and environmental aspects. Oxiteno
believes that collaboration between government, civil society and the private sector is critical to addressing this new reality. So, in 2019 the 2030 Strategic Sustainability Plan set out the goals that will directly contribute to sustainable development.

The ambitions outlined in the plan are part of the company's strategy, and therefore are considered in each of the businesses’ decisions.

To manage the product portfolio responsibly, Oxiteno has developed its own methodology for Sustainable Product Portfolio Management, to identify its degree of sustainability, to manage products properly or to discontinue products that do not comply with pre-determined minimum requirements.

In addition, the company uses the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology to support the development of more sustainable solutions, quantifying the environmental impacts of a product from the extraction of its raw materials, through its processing, use and disposal. With these data it is possible to make comparisons with similar solutions, to identify in which stages of the process the environmental impacts are more intense, and to propose modifications to improve them.
