As part of the Grupo Ultra, a major business group in Brazil, the company’s heritage is built on being a pioneer. Founded in the 1970s, it was the first company to manufacture ethylene oxide and derivatives in the country.

Today, Oxiteno is a leading multinational in the production of surfactants and specialty chemicals in the Americas. It has 11 industrial units across Brazil, the United States, Mexico and Uruguay, five research and development centers, and eight commercial offices in the Americas, Europe, and Asia.

Oxiteno has established itself as a chemical company with a comprehensive portfolio of solutions and a high standard of delivery for markets such as Crop Solutions, Home Care and I&I, Personal Care, Coatings, Oil & Gas, Functional Fluids, Nutrition & Health and many others. It anticipates trends and develops sustainable operations, making chemistry responsible for the progress that balances economic growth, environmental protection, and people’s needs.

In the 1970s, the company was driven in Brazil by the entrepreneurial spirit and dedication of its employees. The country's first ethylene oxide manufacturer started with a plant in the ABC Petrochemical Hub, in Sao Paulo, and soon expanded to Camacari, in Bahia State.

In 20 years, Oxiteno established itself as the leading manufacturer of ethylene oxide and derivatives in Latin America. It opened two more industrial units in Brazil (in Sao Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul States) and a research and development center in Maua, Sao Paulo. In this way Oxiteno has been able to expand its operations, grow its portfolio, and enhance the quality of its processes and products.

Oxiteno began the 21st century ready to extend its reach still further. In 2003, the company acquired Canamex, in Mexico, Grupo Ultra’s first asset outside Brazil. With a strategic internationalization project, the company opened offices in Argentina (2006), United States (2007), Belgium (2008), Colombia (2011), Uruguay (2012) and China (2012). Its presence in Mexico was further expanded by establishing partnerships with international research institutes.

From its commercial office in Shanghai, China, Oxiteno serves the entire Asia and Pacific region. Its local team has great expertise in different markets (such as Coatings, Crop Solutions, Home Care and I&I, Personal Care, Pharma, Food, etc.) and has a wide portfolio of products to deliver solutions that meet their needs.

The operation in the region has recently expanded with the opening of a laboratory in Shanghai to serve the Crop Solutions market in the development of technologies.

Grupo Ultra is today one of the leading business groups in Brazil and uses the capital market not only as a source of investment but as a driver of development and the consolidation of its corporate culture. Ipiranga

Distribution and sale of fuels and lubricants. In late 2018 it had more than 7,000 service stations and more than 2,400 convenience stores. It also has one of the largest rewards programs in the country (Km de Vantagens) and has Abastece Aí, a pioneering digital payment application in the segment.

Ultragaz

The largest distributor of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in Brazil. It has 18 bottling hubs, 17 storage and distribution hubs, and a network serving 11 million households in the bottled gas segment, and 54,000 business and residential developments in the bulk segment.

Ultracargo

A bulk liquid storage company, it is present in six Brazilian ports - Itaqui (Maranhao), Suape (Pernambuco), Aratu (Bahia), Rio de Janeiro (Rio de Janeiro), Santos (Sao Paulo) and Paranagua (Parana).

Extrafarma

With more than 430 stores, it became one of the five largest drugstore chains in Brazil, across 13 stat.
