Posted in: November, 2018.

Joining the board allows for greater engagement between the company with US chemical industries

Pasadena, Texas, November 26, 2018 – Oxiteno, leader in the manufacture of surfactants and specialty chemicals has joined the American Chemistry Council (ACC), the leading trade association representing the U.S. chemical industry at the local, state, federal, and global level. The Oxiteno’s application was accept in the beginning of November in board meeting. The company decided to apply to further engage with the US chemical business. Oxiteno recently opened of its first plant in Pasadena, Texas. This new unit was planned to serve primarily US customers and along with plants in Mexico, Brazil, Uruguay and Venezuela position Oxiteno as a main producer of ethoxylates and surfactants in the Americas.

“As membership in ACC the chemical companies are members around the areas of government advocacy, safety and environmental best practices. In addition to this we were particularly interested in the ACC’s expanded work around sustainability which has been an area of focus of our company for the past several years”, said Timothy Madden, Chief Operating Officer of Oxiteno in the US.

“With the addition of industry leaders such as Oxiteno, ACC’s continued growth reflects the sustained and historic expansion and strength of the domestic chemical industry,” said ACC President and CEO Cal Dooley. “As our membership continues to diversify, it allows us to better demonstrate that chemistry is the science behind sustainability, from the technologies that enable clean, safe drinking water, improve food quality and enhance crop yields, to the clean energy resources that power energy-efficient vehicles, homes, and businesses around the world,” he added.

Bob Baden the Director of Manufacturing for Oxiteno highlighted that ACC Responsible Care® Program, a chemical industry’s world-class environmental, health, safety, and security performance initiative, was important to designing the own program within Oxiteno with the goal being achievement of the ACC Responsible Care certification. “The Responsible Care Program at the ACC started some 30 years back and is a big factor drawing us towards membership. My staff as well as many of the other members of the team here in our plant come from ACC member companies. As a result, there is already a deep understanding as to the importance of Responsible Care in optimizing the safety and environmental performance of the company”, adds Bob.
